Privacy Policy
Last updated: 19 September 2026
This site never asks for your name, email address or payment details. It does use Meta's and Google's tools to count visits and measure its Facebook and Instagram ads. Everything is explained below.
What this site doesn't collect
There is no signup, no account and no email list. Purchases happen on Amazon, under Amazon's own privacy policy, and this site never sees who buys.
Meta Pixel (Facebook and Instagram)
This site uses the Meta Pixel, a tool from Meta Platforms. It tells Meta when you visit a page here, open or read the free chapter, or tap a button to buy the book. We use this to measure our Facebook and Instagram ads and to show them to people likely to be interested in the book.
The Pixel sets Meta cookies in your browser (such as _fbp, and _fbc when you arrive from an ad). It sends Meta details such as the page address, your browser and device, and your IP address. Meta may link this to your Facebook or Instagram account and uses it under Meta's Privacy Policy.
You can see and limit this in your Facebook or Instagram settings, under Accounts Center → Ad preferences and Your activity off Meta technologies.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics to count visits and clicks and to see how far down the page people read. It sets Google cookies, and Google processes the data under its own policies. You can opt out with Google's opt-out browser add-on.
This site's own counters
The site also keeps its own simple totals: page views by country, clicks on the buy and free-chapter links, how far people read, and whether a visit came from a Facebook or Instagram link. These are counts only. No IP addresses, names or other identifiers are stored.
Other services the pages load
- Fonts come from Google Fonts.
- If Cloudflare, which hosts this site, can't tell which country you're in, the page asks ipapi.co to work it out from your IP address, so it can show the right Amazon store and price.
Storage in your browser
- localStorage remembers whether you've opened the free chapter, and whether you chose to read it on a light page.
- sessionStorage, which is cleared when you close the tab, remembers during your visit whether you arrived from Facebook or Instagram, which of the counts above have already been made, whether you closed the buy bar, and whether you've already seen the tip about signing in to Amazon.
